The Sierra Vista Leadership Application Program (LAP) is a select group of students that
are trained to be confident, impactful, empathetic leaders through leadership education
and experience in the context of SV Science Olympiad. Successful LAP students are equipped to effectively oversee individuals, small groups, and large organizations as they enter high school, higher education, and their careers better aware of their surroundings with a broad skill set to address issues facing our world today.
LAP was formed to fill a void in leadership training for middle and high school students. Where other programs have students passively pick up leadership concepts through doing various tasks, LAP offers direct classroom instruction and real-world application. An essential component of LAP is its integration with an existing Science Olympiad team. By training students within an existing organization, LAP students are not isolated--they practice their skills within a real-world team.
